Winmurra is 940 acres of diverse forest on the Bulga Plateau inland from Taree The gardens were established in 1980 and now Heather delivers weekly, fresh vegetables, gourmet preserves, olives, fruit, etc to local families.
Being motivated by 'Transition Towns' concept of creating a dynamic, sustainable 'post peak oil' culture, Heather actively supports local community projects like the Oxygen Farm, Sawmill Regeneration Co, Halls & Health Centre.
The property lies in a 5km bend of spectacular waterfalls & pools, so the varied & interesting work is interspersed with plenty of walks & swimming. The home is wod/solar/gravity powered with netted gardens/orchard to keep out the abundant wildlife. Accom for up to 12 people in our home or cabins. Children b.a. Can P/U from Taree/Wingham with prior notice. We welcome WOOFERS either short or long stay who are energetic and enthusiastic about personal resilience action and our endeavours toward co-operative social food gardening
Fabulous, Fun, Food, Fardtening (Farm/garden)Early Feb the Winmurrra crew (an acronym for Worldwise Individuals Now Making Up Real Resilience Response Actions) welcomed 3 new WWOOF’ers from Italy, in time for harvesting honey, plums, Bunya nuts and experiments with Mead making. Our Fardten is a large, open field situation and so far we are trialling spuds, pumpkins, sugar cane, choko, lab-lab and adzuki beans etc. Current jobs include mulching and ashing pumpkins and hilling potatoes.
